ACRO & ADVENTURE RETREAT
Lombok, Indonesia
I was fortunate every step of the way. From finding an amazing venue (after visiting more than 20 different venues in Lombok), to locking in some of the best Acroyoga coaches I know… Everything fell into place.
Originally, the goal was 10 guests. I never imagined this retreat would be sold out. But it happened! It was. For that, I have to thank all the coaches and many of the guests who promoted the retreat everywhere they went.
Once the retreat started, it was clear to me that it would be one of the smoothest retreats ever. The venue, the food, the guests, the coaches, the comradery, the vibe… everything was just perfect.
We were also blessed to have the “MASTERS Of Flows” join our retreat, Lloydie & Flo from Double Up Acro. Lloydie & Flo taught two Acro classes that were also amazing. They taught one long flow that incorporated a unique entry, whips, pops, and very cool transitions.
Double Up Acro has been successfully running Acro retreats in Bali for over a year now and having their guidance and presence all week was perfect.
First, I have to thank Jolien & Steffano from Yoga Of Acro! They were the main coaches, teaching 5 Acro classes, one handstand class, one therapeutics, one power yoga class, and one cacao ceremony. They far exceeded everyone’s expectations with their unique form of coaching and their emphasis on safety. Their classes were original and challenging, but also accessible for all our guests. They covered icarian pops, whips, flows, and challenging counterbalance poses.
Another one of our coaches, Fong, came all the way from Singapore to teach us everything we needed to know about Icarian pops. As a gymnastics coach, Fong has a unique perspective on Icarian pops. A big portion of his two classes were spent on being “safe” and learning how to catch yourself properly in every skill. This allowed all of us to have more confidence doing our new acquire skills, as we knew how to land safely.
Thank you, coaches! For keeping all of our guest safe, for being so professional, and for teaching some of the best Acro workshops ever. You made this retreat such a hit. Thank you thank you!
The PRE-Retreat or “Pretreat”…
Our guest were invited and encouraged to arrive a few days early to maximize their time in Lombok. We had 8 guest arrive 4-3 days early! Each day we facilitated one Acro Jam and one Adventure. This was very helpful for everyone, because we got to start the Acro festivities earlier and we got to know each other even more!
Our goal is for you to have the best time possible, and arriving a few days later is a sure way to ensure your guest feel like they had the best of times <3.
The Adventure…
The Acro was not the all this retreat had to offer. The retreat was held in Lombok, a small island in Indonesia. And within this island, we picked a very small village in the mountains call Tetebatu. This beautiful village, overlooking the magnificent Mount Rinjani and surrounded by waterfalls and rice fields, offered a sense of peace and tranquility that is hard to find.
We went on two awesome adventures, one exploring Tetebatu and one exploring some waterfalls 40 minutes away. They were both very unique and wholesome experiences. Not very often do you get to explore a small village by foot, learning about their way of life & farming strategies, while greeting the locals, and discovering hidden waterfalls.
Special thank you to the venue owners, and their staff, for giving me the opportunity to host this retreat. They were amazing too. The food was very tasty, healthy, and original every day. The yoga shala overlooking the rice fields and Mount Rinjani were breathtaking every day. The rooms were cozy and spacious, and the weather in the mountains was perfect for acro, not too hot, not too cold.
Lastly, the man who captured it all, our photographer Skip. Thank you! Skip is not only a photographer, but an Acroyogi coach himself. So, having him join us was exactly what we needed to catch all the right shots at the right time. Skip did an amazing job at capturing some of the best moments in the retreat. So, check out some of the photos/videos (below) to see how much fun we had throughout the week.
All that is left to say is… I hope all of my future retreats are as wholesome, fun, smooth, and fulfilling as this one was. To all our guests and coaches, you will all, forever, have a special place in my heart. Thank you! Thank you! And I hope to see you all very soon! #vamos
To everyone that attended VAMOS EXPERIENCES first ever retreat, THANK YOU! This was a dream come true.
Originally, this event was scheduled for January 2024, but it had to be canceled. My original co-host decided to take another opportunity. I thought the project was dead.
Then a friend convinced me to host the retreat alone, despite the odds no being in my favor.
