Why Mexico City?

From your host…

Hi! Nesto here 🙋🏽‍♂️… I have visited Mexico City 7 times and lived there for six weeks, and in the process I have made endless friendships and memories. You have no idea how fun of a city this place is. There is something for everyone. So much history… European, Aztec, and Mexican history! The city can be extra “fancy”, with super nice restaurants, hotels, and luxury activities. But it can also be extremely budget-friendly with plenty of parks, free walking tours, extremely good street food, accessible transportation, street art, cheap courses, and more. The people here are so alive, always nice, and ready to have a good time.

I am beyond excited to show you what Mexico City is all about, see you soon!

Culture

Mexico City is a cultural powerhouse, where ancient traditions harmoniously coexist with modern expressions. The city is home to countless museums, galleries, and theaters. Mexico City was built upon the ruins of Tenochtitlan, the Aztec capital. The remnants of this ancient civilization can be explored just by walking around the city, or by visiting Templo Mayor, where you can wander through the ruins and gain a deeper understanding of the area’s storied past. Additionally, landmarks such as the stunning Palacio de Bellas Artes and the historic Zócalo tell tales of Mexican pride and resilience while showcasing stunning architecture. The renowned National Museum of Anthropology offers an insightful journey through Mexico's pre-Hispanic history, housing impressive artifacts from ancient civilizations. Meanwhile, the streets are filled with performers and street art. You are always one block away from being at awe.

Friendly Faces

One of the most delightful aspects of Mexico City is its people. Known for their hospitality and warmth, locals are eager to share their culture and traditions. While you are here, you'll find that locals add a unique charm that makes the experience that much better. This welcoming atmosphere makes it easy to feel at home, even in a bustling metropolis.

The Food!!! 😋

Prepare your taste buds for an unforgettable culinary adventure. Mexico City is a gastronomic paradise, boasting a blend of traditional recipes and innovative cuisine. Street vendors serve up tantalizing tacos, tamales, and elotes, while upscale restaurants offer exquisite dishes crafted by world-renowned chefs. Each meal unfolds a new layer of flavor, and the vibrant markets, like La Merced, burst with fresh produce and spices, making every bite an exploration in taste.

Activities and Adventures

From exploring ancient ruins to enjoying a leisurely stroll through historic neighborhoods like Coyoacán, there's never a shortage of activities to partake in. You can sip coffee in the bohemian district of Roma or explore the lush canals of Xochimilco aboard a colorful trajinera, a traditional gondola. The city's diverse neighborhoods are perfect for leisurely afternoons filled with boutique shopping, art walks, or simply savoring people watching from a cozy café.

For those seeking a bit more excitement, the city offers incredible nightlife. Dance the night away in trendy clubs or listen to live music in ambient bars, where you can experience the local music scene that ranges from mariachi to jazz.

Natural Spaces

Believe it or not, a natural escape is also at your fingertips. The city hosts beautiful parks and green spaces, such as Chapultepec Park, one of the largest urban parks in the world, where you can relax, picnic, or rent a paddle boat on the lake. The scenic views from nearby mountains provide perfect hiking trails for nature lovers.
